Just a quick note to ask for prayer this weekend for Jeremiah as he flies to Naknek (an hour southish) to volunteer at a youth event. He is excited for this opportunity to meet the youth in the surrounding villages. He leaves today around 1:30 and will return Saturday evening (all depending on weather). There are some youth going from our community too, so it will be a good time to get to know them better as well.
We both are working in Awana this year. I am working with the Puggles (ages 2 and 3). Right now there are 5 Puggles and it really has been a blessing to teach them about our Creator. The first week we taught them that God made the light. After repeating it several times we asked, "Who made the light?" and most of them said, "ME!" Hmmm...it's going to take a little work for them to realize the world does not revolve around them :)
Jeremiah is teaching the Jr. high Awana, which consists of two boys. The program takes a lot of work for this age group, so please pray for the boys that they make time for it and their lives are changed.
We have also decided to start a Kids Movie Night once a month. The first time we had 18 kids and the second time 23! The kids love it and it gives the parents a chance to hang out with other adults.
Jeremiah continues to work at the hangar maintaining the planes for Lake Clark Air. He has stayed very busy over the summer. He's had opportunity to continue flight training and gained two endorsements- complex and high performance. Soon he will be able to fly freight for Lake Clark Air.
I am teaching preschool 4 mornings a week. I have 3 students and they keep me busy! October 4-14, I will be in Anchorage for training and maybe some shopping :) In the afternoons and weekends I am still dispatching at Lake Clark Air.
This coming week our church is hosting two conferences. The first one is during the week and lots of missionaries from surrounding villages are flying in. Pray for safety and good weather and good fellowship. The second one is over the weekend and we will be going to that one as much as we can.
We are thankful to be making good payments towards our school loans. Please continue to pray for wisdom in finances. If we keep it up we may be debt free by the end of next summer! What a blessing! We've learned a lot about debt through this and don't want to experience it again!
Almost all the leaves have changed and are falling...we had snow on the mountain tops this week...and it is getting colder! We turned the heat on and are starting to pull out our winter gear! Days are getting shorter...we are looking forward to our first winter and life slowing down.
Thank you for your prayers!

AND THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
My aunt gave me an apple bell 5 years ago and I finally get to use it in my own classroom! I am teaching preschool 4 days a week. I have 4 students, 3 boys and 1 girl. Lots of fun, lots of energy :)
OH, AND A VISIT FROM OUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR CAT...
Kazuri likes to come in the house, munch on Pumpkin's food, drink her water, check out the liter box...I think she'd take a nap on our bed if we let her! She pretty much acts like she owns the whole little neighborhood.
Last night we went hiking, built a fire and roasted hot dogs. On the way back we were chatting away and all of a sudden I saw something walking on the trail ahead of us. At first I thought it was a dog, then I thought it was a small bear cub, it turned out to be a very fat porcupine waddling down the trail. He didn't even hear us. We got pretty close to him and as soon as he realized we were behind him he got real tense and displayed his quills. He walked off the trail and it seemed like he got distracted and started eating or he was trying to cut his way through the brush. We scared him with a stick and he started climbing a tree. But I think he was too fat and bushy to get very high. We got some pictures, but as you can see, he camouflages really well into the tree, makes me wonder how many porcupines we've walked past without even knowing they were there!
We also saw a very chatty squirrel. He yelled at us for quite awhile!
Friday night Jeremiah and I went to practice our shooting skills... The first 5 I got all in the top corner. The second five I got a lot closer to the center. It was fun...I wouldn't mind getting my own pink gun :)
